What is The Spontaneous Film Review Blog?

We started this because we love movies.
We wanted to share our viewing experiences as a resource for others.
We also want to be able to remember what movies we watched, this blog will help with that.
We are both into music, creative writing and art and I thought this would be a great way to apply our unique background and life experiences that will be apparent in our ratings and reviews.

Defiance

J: *****/*****
T:*****/*****

Defianceis truly amazing. I cannot believe I had not heard of this movie until recently, and knew I had to see it. 'Defiance' added to my knowledge (what I thought was lots of knowledge) about the Holocaust and World War 2 time period.
This movie shows true surviving. Each day the "fugitive" Jews stay alive in the forest of their former homeland where they were safe citizens is a triumph. What started as three brothers plan to escape and survive and look out for themselves as the Holocaust past in the woods of their youth they find more and more Jews fleeing their safe houses and former homes.
Selflessly, the brothers accept those in need to join their moving forest community. Barely having enough food and security for themselves the brothers find ways to feed and protect growing throngs of Jews who run to the trees for salvation; most whom have witnessed unspeakable Nazi cruelty and are unsure when the war will be over, where and how their families are and whether they can keep up with the demands of camp living with so few resources.
Incredible leadership and innovative survival efforts keep this plot moving and engaging. I highly recommend anyone (any human) watch this: it is about human spirit, and unlike any 'Holocaust' film I have seen. Based on true events.

Under the Sea: IMAX

T: Should be a *****/***** despite the length
J: Pondering:

I am still debating the quailities in which to rate this video due to its unecpectedly short video length= Run time = 41 minutes = WHAT?!
A big plus= Jim Carey is not visually present or 'acting' during the entire film. Yet, he is the only human voice once sennses during the movie. All I got to say is "Great Performance" FARREAL, Mr. Carey. This is your third best film than the "Truman Show" and I mean it.
His voice nrarated consistently with potential;suggesting it was developing some of the profound distinctions of a Morgan Freeman amazing camera shot and global awareness connection that made anyone want to watch the FInal Fastnasy movies and pray to, "Gaia" Nte sure about the movie review yet... so here is a polished one from link listed below. Peace and Love.

Experience up-close encounters with some of the most remarkable marine life ever captured on film while examining the impact of global climate change on the ocean wilderness as award-winning director/cinematographer Howard Hall (Into the Deep, Deep Sea 3D) travels from South Australia to the Indo-Pacific to teach viewers the importance of keeping our oceans clean for future generations. Just how great of an effect does global warming have on marine wildlife, and what can be done to ensure the future well-being of our planet? As the filmmakers reveal the delicacy of our fragile ecosystem, viewers are allowed the unique opportunity to see what we risk losing should we fail to address the issue of global climate change sooner rather than later. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Robin Hood (2010)

T:To be announced...
J:*****/*****

I am giving this movie 5 stars. It was awesome (a lot more violent than I thought) and the first movie I am including in this blog that we saw all new and fancy in the movie theaters.
I love the Robin Hood stories... from the Disney original cartoon to the BBC series. This version of Robin Hood was a universal "prequel" to the common Hood we know that "robs from the rich and gives to the poor." The movie touches upon historical problems of the British sovereignty system and how power corrupts. King Richard is not the Saint he is regarded as in other stories, and Kind John is more stupid and vain than outright menacing.
Although the story, age (much older main characters than in any Robin Hood films/books I have come across before) and Robin's relationship to Nottingham are all novel to this story it stays true to the adventurous Robin Hood spirit. Jolly old Friar Tuck is in the movie with his popular brew, and the band of outlaws/merry men that support Robin's heroic actions are depicted with color and optimistic loyalty. I definitely recommend checking out this movie in the theaters as there is a beautiful watercolor animated montage at the end of the movie during the closing credits that was an added bonus to the fun movie experience.

Bright Star

J: ***/*****

T was deservedly sleeping from working so much but I do no think this movie would have impressed him.
So romantic. I liked it.
Some of the scenes touched my heart (wow, what a cliche)... but the acting and non-verbal to very verbal interactions between Fanny and John Keats was penetrating. I would have liked a little more poetry, but the shots and the flowers and the historical costumes and salon life were done well. This one actually should get
3.5 out of 5 stars. I have to stop being too easy on movies just because they have poets in them with sexy, brooding eyes. Also, I wish they explained more of John Keats' sickness and the group of "friends" that paid his passage to Rome and other destinations abroad.
